The coronavirus is first and foremost a human tragedy. Pandemic is not nature’s revenge on us. We can achieve having clean air and water without a pandemic. A proper climate response means more action, it doesn’t mean staying at home forcefully.

Eventually, we’re all going to return to something that resembles ‘normal’. We’re all going coming back to work or school. Industries and traveling are going to bloom again. As a result, positive environmental effects that we’re seeing are likely to be just temporary.

From lower carbon emissions in China to clear water in Venice, the environmental improvements seen since the start of COVID-19 might be temporary — what we do next is crucial.

In the Philippines, the government ignored the science of this pandemic and now we’re suffering. Hopefully the same doesn’t happen when it comes to climate change.

Let’s act as one

It is proven that we help each other and live sustainable lives. Our planet has limited resources. Big corporations are basing the decisions on profit & not the betterment of humanity. Every choice we make affects all of us.

Even the animals see the safety and improvements due to the absence of humans. Let’s just hope that we can see how the planet is doing without humans.

If we want to avoid similar situations in the coming years, we have to make a choice. Place the longevity of our environment and health at the forefront, or continue to use limited resources that harm the environment.
